Dr. Catherine Hamlin celebrated her 95th Birthday on January 24, 2019 at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital. She was joined by Her Excellency President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, W/ro Sahile Work Zewude, Her Excellency Ethiopian Ambassador to Germany, W/ro Mulu Solomon, His Excellency Australian Ambassador-Designate, Mr Peter Doyle and his wife Mrs Jennifer Lee, Ato Tesfaye Mamo, A/CEO of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s management team and staff, fistula survivors and invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, HFE’S A/CEO, Ato Tesfaye Mamo, said. “Most of those 95 years were generously given to help the poor women of our country with traumatic birth injury. We all are thankful for your lifelong dedication and on this valuable day of your 95th birthday. We promise to continue your legacy and realize your dream in eradicating fistula from Ethiopia. On behalf of our staff, our fistula survivors and our partners, I would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to you on your birthday. ”
Honorable Guest of the day, Her Excellency the President of Ethiopia, W/ro Sahile Work Zewude, expressed her excitement attending the 95th birthday of the most valuable woman she always admires. “Happy birthday Dr. Catherine. You’ve set a model in all the works you have been doing on maternal healthcare in Ethiopia. The quality care and cleanness of your hospitals, the highly skilled midwives you train and the holistic approach you follow in treating women with fistula are all remain exemplary to my government and the maternal healthcare service providers over the globe. I wish you long and health years and my government will always be with your organization in all ways round.”
On the ceremony, HFE senior management team members, outreach center representatives, fistula survivors, and staff from the head office, desta mender and the college were in attendance.
